|The Congressional Health Care Caucus, founded at the beginning of the 111th Congress, strives to educate Republican Members and staff on the issues surrounding health care policy, to equip them with resources for serving the American people, to prepare them to communicate effectively, to foster productive debate, and to receive input from those outside of Washington.
The Health Caucus is chaired by Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. who represents the 26th District of Texas. In pursuit of these goals, the events and resources provided by the Caucus will be designed to prepare Republicans to engage Americans intelligently and effectively during the Health Care Reform Debate and beyond.
During President Obama’s Health Care Summit at the White House, he said he was committed to exploring what works. The American people also embrace this approach to reforming the health care delivery system in a way that maintains quality, improves access, and makes health care more affordable. Congress, in undertaking this project which is long overdo, must focus on solutions, not politics and patients, not payments.
Membership in the Caucus is open to all Members of the House Republican Conference and their staff. The Caucus hosts regular briefings and forums for Members and staff, as well as providing timely resources.
